The last 2019 Sew Far Sew Good workshop will be hosted on the 7 December at 99Loop, during Highly Strung, Danielle Clough’s first solo exhibition.
What is a Sew Far Sew Good workshop?
The Sew Far Sew Good workshops are introductory classes on making handmade embroidered pieces through a mixture of learning traditional techniques and tricks from an ‘accidental professional’. No matter what your skill level, the class will focus on gearing your design to your skill.
This particular workshop is an upgrade to the SFSG beginners classes that toured Australia 2017. This version will teach you how to create your own unique patterns, colour theory and developing your voice in this wonderful threaded art form so that you end up with a 1 of 1 embroidery.
Skill level
This is an introductory workshop to embroidery. We will gear your design and ideas to your skill level. Whether you need to learn to thread a needle or are a professional, its a class on finding little tricks and hacks to making your own unique embroidered work.
What will be provided?
Each person will receive an embroidery kit and I will provide threads, fabric, pens and pencils and other goodies I think you may need. If any of you are like me and have your own favourite pencil or pens, bring them along!
What do you need to bring:
Bring your phone! We will use this, your every day tool, to create your own embroidery patternYou can bring anything that you may want to sew, practice or adorn. Part of the workshop is showing you hacks on how to get your ideas together, and onto fabric.
Food:
I will provide snacks and we will take a lunch break. There are plenty of restaurants in the area or feel free to bring your own lunch. Embroidery can be time consuming (in the best way) so its worth eating before. Carbo-load!
What will you take home:
A SFSG embroidery kit, allowing you to continue with your pieces at home, and keep on stitching till your hearts content.
A SFSG pin.
Ticket sales are final and non-refundable. If you are unable to attend you are welcome to gift the ticket to a friend. We reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time in which case we will issue refunds.
