At the Cape Town Creative Academy - Wednesday, 4-15 September 2024

I had the immense privilege of collaborating with three artists I get to call my friends to create a different gallery experience. We pooled our varying skills and resources to shift the gallery dynamic and make a show where we set the rules. We had 118 pieces in this room, from paintings to ceramics, monotypes to embroidery. Pink walls, an art raffle, workshops, and even a market day have seared the experience into my heart as one of the top 10 things I’ve done with this little stitch thing.
The collective trusted me to run with the identity and majority of the design of the collective. It was amazing to put on my slightly dusty design hat and make logos, posters, videos and print collateral.
Opening night was packed with people and love, a sales line out the door, and a surprise visit from my oldest best friend. Looking back, I still feel so heart-full.
On the first weekend of the show Cynthia and I hosted a collaborative, 2-day workshop, combining printmaking and embroidery. On the second we hosted a market day. It was a packed art party!
Putting the C, O & A in CODA are my beautiful art friends Cynthia, Olivie, and Andrew. - you guys are amazing - thank you for putting up with me!

Huge thank you to the people who made it all possible.

We did a thing, We did it together, and it worked! The name CODA, derived from the first letter of each artist’s name, reflects the collective’s belief that “everything is better when you’re together.
