The first moment when I knew I wanted to stitch some suckers was on a road trip. Stopping at a small padstal (road stall) as one does to refill on chips, cooldrinks, pies and other snacks kept exclusively for cars and long drives, I spotted a box of Fizz-pops. The nostalgia flooded in, reminding me of how the lollipop wears the wrapper like a cape. Cream Soda flavoured super heroes, with sherbert centres and coloured tongues as its power.
I photographed, drew and waited for the right fabric to make it. I’m so happy I did. This bright linen was professionally stretched and put in my Backyard Barbie kits, but I kept one aside for this project.
