The Girl Dust pieces have been created with mixed-media off-cuts from previous works I have made (and a few tiny treats for pizzaz). I didn’t cut any threads specifically to make these worlds. Weirdly, that feels like cheating!
Close up in these cosmos of off-cuts I see pieces of past work, some threads that have travelled with me across continents and puffs of wool that recall memories of pompoms in lockdown. From far I see stories, like when you stare at clouds and see Winnie the Pooh in a fedora riding a dragon. I wonder what you will see?
The frames are made especially for this project with my framers, who prep it. After I let the dust settle, they finish it with backing, painting and hanging. In this series, Fire and Isolation has a painted edge to compliment the work.
